Darcie's Graduation

June 17th, Darcie's parents, grandma, and I attended her graduation ceremony. It was in a nice building on Yonge street downtown. The ceremony began with a few awards handed out, a guy gave the Convocation speech, the Valedictorian gave his speech, the President of the school gave her closing remarks and then all the students stood and repeated the oath. It was pretty surreal to see her walk up one side of the stage as a student and leave the other side as a doctor. There was a reception outside of the hall where everyone took pictures, had some drinks and ate appetizers. After the ceremony, we went to the CN Tower for supper with Mandy and Mason's family to celebrate. We are all very proud of Darcie and her accomplishments!! She is officially a doctor!!

This is where each student kneeled on the stool and the lady would place this v-shaped fabric over their neck to signify them graduating

Toronto Soccer Game

While Darcie's parents and grandma were in town for her graduation, I was given 4 tickets from work to see Toronto's Soccer team play. Brenda and Marian weren't interested in going so just Bruce, Darcie and I went. None of us had ever gone so it was neat to watch a professional soccer match. Toronto ended up losing in the 90th minute from a free kick. We were just happy we got to see someone score instead of it being a 0-0 draw.

Muskoka Weekend

Darcie, Mandy, and I went up to our friends Mark and Vanessa's cottage in the Muskoka area this past weekend. We did some relaxing, reading, lots of eating, and lots of water sports. Mandy and Darcie both went waterskiing which they hadn't done in a long time, and Mark and I had fun being pulled on their tube. Vanessa did her best to shake us off but Mark and I did a pretty good job staying on, although many times just barely. It was so fun.
Mark and Vanessa told us there was a beaver dam 5 minutes up a stream from their cottage so one day when they were working at the Juicery, the three of us went to find it and as you can see from the pictures, it was massive. It was about 2 feet over my head and probably 25 yards long in total. It was very impressive to stand in front and look at all the individual pieces of wood with mud that was holding back all the water, knowing it was built one stick at a time. Pretty incredible engineering. All around the dam were stumps of trees that they'd chewed down to use in the dam.
