Muskoka (Moose-coke-ah) Weekend

Darcie and I had a great weekend up at an area north of Toronto, about 2.5 hours out of town, called Muskoka. It's well known as the 'cottage country'. There's lots of lakes so it's a summer destination on weekends for lots of people. Darcie's technique partner in school this year, Vanessa, has a family cottage on Muskoka lake and they invited us up for the weekend. It was so beautiful. They have a beautiful cottage with a boat house. It's funny how in Ontario they call them cottages but in BC we call them cabins. A very common thing at Ontario cottages is having boat houses for your boats but they're not just enclosures to keep the boats out of the weather. They usually have area's above them that's like a second cottage which is pretty cool. That's where Darcie and I stayed so we had the whole place to ourselves. It was so picturesque up there. Vanessa and her Husband Mark are really nice and we really enjoyed hanging out with them up there getting to know them better. We didn't want to leave - it was so easy to destress. They invited us back soon so we're looking forward to going up again. Next time they said to bring up the cats so we didn't have to worry about someone having to watch them while we're gone and we could let them roam around in the boat house.
Vanessa and Mark live at the cottage all summer and run a business they own up in a small town about 5 minutes from their cottage called Port Carling. It's called The Juicery and they make smoothies and juice and sell organic and healthy foods. We biked into town on the Saturday, checked out The Juicery and had a couple smoothies - very good. We walked around and checked out the town, then biked back and relaxed. The whole weekend was great. It was nice to get away from the city and see Ontario's 'cottage country' first hand.

2nd Year Wedding Anniversary

Well for our second year anniversary this year, we decided to go to the CN Tower again and have dinner at the 360 degree rotating restaurant. Its such a neat experience being up there rotating slowly around that we wanted to do it again. We rotated a full two times while we were up there and saw a really nice sunset. We had steaks which were really good. There was a Blue Jays game being played in the Rogers Center and the roof was open so you could watch them playing because the stadium is directly underneath the tower. After dinner, we went to a viewing area outside and you could hear the game - the announcer and fans cheering. Pretty neat.
